Remember Those Who Serve!

By Apostle Joseph Hobbs, Th.D.
Job 29:24-25
Job 29:24-25

24 When I smiled at them, they scarcely believed it; the light of my face was precious to them.

25 I chose the way for them and sat as their chief; I dwelt as a king among his troops; I was like one who comforts mourners. (NIV)

"Here rests in honored glory an American soldier known but to God." -Anonymous, inscription on Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Arlington National Cemetery

Greetings, beloved on this Memorial Day weekend. I would like to encourage each family that reads these few lines to remember the men and women who have fought and sacrificed their lives to grant us a security within our nation. Too often this day is but a day a relaxation and not a day of humble prayerful reflection. To do this day justice we should spend time praying for the families of the men and women who gave their lives for the sake of this nation.

The text above speaks of God's providential grace and mercy being provided for those who are at war for honorable causes. It powerfully states that God as a Chief leader will choose the way of victory for them. God promises to lead them with His eyes. He also promises to be a King or Ruler over the troops. It is my prayer that I a time like this when our nation is at war, that those who serve and protect our honor as a nation would have an abiding relationship with God who is the King of the troops.

The text also speaks to one of the inevitabilities of war and that is the loss of lives. God promises that in the midst of death he will provide divine comfort to those who are grieving over the loss of loved ones, who have died in service to their country. Please take the time to lift up in prayer the families of those who are in hostile territories around the world providing safety and security from enemy invasion and attack.

Whether we agree to the reasons behind the initiation of this war or not, there are thousands of families who are directly affected by this war. They need our continued prayers, love, and support.
