The Power of Partnership

By Apostle Joseph Hobbs, Th.D.

2 Sam 10:10-12

And the rest of the people he delivered into the hand of Abishai his brother, that he might put them in array against the children of Ammon. And he said, if the Syrians be too strong for me, then thou shalt help me: but if the children of Ammon be too strong for thee, then I will come and help thee. Be of good courage, and let us play the men for our people, and for the cities of our God: and the LORD do that which seemeth him good. (KJV)

"Partnership is not a principle, but a relationship between persons who share in common enterprise, involving common risks, common privileges, and common responsibilities. Everything depends on the reality of our partnership with one another and each of us with God." - George Craig Stewart

Beloved, I greet each of you this Lord's day with the Love of God that surpasses our ability to understand. Today I want to share with you a thought concerning the power and the purpose of partnership. Too often we find among ourselves those who are easily discouraged or defeated because they are loners in life and have taught themselves to go it alone. However, upon closer examination you will discover that there is a longing within the soul for God has not created us for isolation and seclusion from our fellow Christians. God created us from the beginning for the purpose of creating a godly community.

The word community is actually a compound word that expresses the idea of a 'co-unity,' or a common unity. This idea of a "common unity," is impossible without this community affecting a common purpose. Often we go down in defeat because we attempt to gamer artificial means of uniting. However, when we discover a cause that includes the self-interest of others, unity is initiated. When we operate in unity, we share not only common resources and perhaps common strategy but most importantly we share a common destiny.

The goal of partnerships is to enter into intentional relationships with others that will foster victories in each of our lives for the benefit of the kingdom of God. God has gifted each of us with talents and skills to be utilized to bring glory to God through serving faithfully with one another. We have more territory to gain together than we do apart.
