Be Devoted to One Another

By Apostle Joseph Hobbs, Th.D.
Rom 12:10

Rom 12:10

Be kindly affectioned one to another with brother love; in honour preferring one another; (KJV)

Love is optimistic; it looks at people in the best light. Love thinks constructively as it senses the grand possibilities in other people." - George Sweeting

I Greet each of you today in the unconditional love of Christ our Savior, Redeemer, and Elder Brother. The greatest gift that we can possibly share with another person is the love of Christ. God through the person of the Holy Spirit has lavishly poured his love into our hearts that we might be capable of love of a higher order and degree. In fact the Words of the Lord says, "And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us." (Rom 5:5).

When we permit him to do so the Holy Spirit teaches us how to love unconditionally like our heavenly Father and our Elder Brother Jesus Christ. One of the least often mentioned aspects of this agape love is the idea of being devoted to each another. The bible clearly teaches us that Satan is a deceiver. He is also referred to as the father of all lies. In this context Satan desires to keep believers suspicious of one another's motives and therefore render them unable or unwilling to display regard or loyalty for one another. God has designed us by nature to be interdependent, this means we were created to depend upon God first and one another as well. God created us to live in community seeking every opportunity to cooperate with one another in advancing the kingdom of God.

The word devotion implies faithfulness, commitment, regard, dedication to, loyalty, and allegiance. To truly honor the Word of our heavenly Father we must learn how to devote ourselves to one another in love. There is nothing that pleases the heavenly Father as much as when his children honor each other in all things. It is so very easy to quote scripture, preach, and prophesy without displaying heartfelt love for one another or devotion to one another. A sign of our devotion is seen when we seek every opportunity to honor our brothers and sisters in the Lord. I pray that we learn how to be devoted to one another.
