Rejoice for a Living Savior

By Apostle Joseph Hobbs, Th.D.
Mt 28:6

Matt 28:6 He is not here for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the LORD lay. (KJV)

"Phillip Henry used to call the LORD's day the queen of days, the pearl of the week, and observed it accordingly. His common salutation of his family or friends, on the LORD's day in the morning, was that of the primitive Christians - 'The LORD is risen, He is risen indeed;' making it his chief business on that day to celebrate the memory of Christ's resurrection; and he would say sometimes, 'Every LORD's day is a true Christian's Easter day.'" - Unknown

Greetings, to each of you on this special Lord's day, the day of the celebration of the Resurrected and Glorified Christ. We have every reason to rejoice with heartfelt gratitude that unlike all of the other religions of mankind we have a Savior that is not dead but who is very much alive. In the resurrection we see the purpose of his death and life culminate in the assurance of His Word to each of us. It is because Christ has fulfilled His Word that we can have the assurance of a beautiful afterlife.

The text above is important because the foundation and basis of it is the fact that what Christ has done is in direct and unequivocal agreement with his spoken Word. The reason that we can trust the integrity of his Word is because he is Truth. He promised that he would return in the full power and authority of his nature and being. He would prove once and for all that he is the resurrection and the life.

Today we can rejoice in a living Savior because other alleged saviors and heroes lived and died for a cause that often concluded with their death. However, in the book of Revelation Jesus reminds us, "I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death." (Rev 1: 18- KJV).

The fact that Jesus is yet alive gives us hope to know that we have within us etemallife through the faithfulness of Christ to His Word. I am aware that advertisers and marketers have done an effective job at commercializing this date. However, we must never lose the true purpose of this important date in the history of the world. He's Alive!
