Passing the Baton Through Legacy Sharing

By Apostle Joseph Hobbs, Th.D.
Deu 32:7

Deut 32:7 Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: Ask thy father, and he will shew thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee. (KJV)

"Wisdom only comes with experience and experience only comes with time" - William James

Greetings, beloved in the name Jehovah-Jireh the Lord our Provider. The provisions of the Lord go beyond the tangible things that we can see and handle, they extend to the spiritual and cultural legacy that we can receive from our seasoned saints and ancestors. A legacy is something handed down fi'om an ancestor or a predecessor or from the past. I believe that God has blessed us with wonderful aged saints around us who hold within their hearts and minds the keys to our success as a generation.

The wisdom that we will need for the next dimension in God I believe will come through proper partnership and relationship with our seniors. I believe that the wealth of knowledge and understanding that these fathers and mothers in the Spirit possess is an invaluable resource for purpose, growth, and direction. I suggest this to you because of the many eras of history that our aged saints have successfully maneuvered in their lifetime. Many of the things we are experiencing at the present had their genesis in the history of their lives. In the days of old the seasoned saints passed down and communicated valuable truths through the oral tradition to their successors in the faith.

In order to be the conquering Joshua's generation that God has purposed for us to be we must place the respect and honor of our elder fathers and mothers as a greater priority in our lives.

Deut 5:16 Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy god hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

The quality of lives that we live is connected spiritually to the honor that is rightfully bestowed upon our elders. Honor given in the proper areas releases the favor of God in all things.
