The Promise of the Open Heaven

By Apostle Joseph Hobbs, Th.D.
Deu 28:12

Deut 28:12 The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow. (KJV)

Greetings, beloved in the name Jehovah-Jireh the Lord our Provider. I would like to share with you some brief thoughts on "the Open Heavens," as granted to us by God. The Word of the Lord is clear that God is Sovereign in all that he does. There is nothing that we can do that will guarantee God's blessings in our lives. However, there are some things that we can do to create an atmosphere for the release of God's blessings.

Our obedience to the Word of God creates an atmosphere in which God will perform His good Word. Obedience says to God that we are willing to invest the whole of our confidence in His ability to perform His Word in our lives. The Lord was adamant about the children of Israel knowing that there was a connection between the quality of blessings that He would bestow upon them and their willingness to hearken to, or listen attentively to what God was saying to them. The word hearken means to carefully and fully obey the Word of the Lord.

God shares with the children of Israel that there carefully obeying the Word of God will cause the favor of the Lord to come upon them. The idea of an open heaven implies two important things. First is that the blessing will have to come from God above. The second thing is that the blessing will nurture the seed of future blessings.

We are under an open heaven, which implies not only is there a harvest in this season, but, there is also intended to be a sowing of seeds for a future harvest. I encourage each of you in this season as God bestows blessings upon Zion, do not forget to sow for the future harvest. Because this is an open heaven, the seed that you sow in this season will be of the same or like quality as the open heavens that we are currently under. Rejoice in this season for God has promised to send the rain in its season. I sense the rain of heaven is upon us. Let us remain faithful that we might reap the full benefits of this season.
